Drum Mics Compared: Sennheiser e604 vs. e904
Both are quality drum mics from Sennheiser's Evolution series. The Sennheiser e904 features all-metal construction, while the e604 is a fiberglass composite with a stainless steel grille. Though the e904 is a bit heavier due to its metal construction, it's physically a bit smaller and therefore easier to place on drums. The metal body makes the mic sturdier and more robust, so it's better able to withstand wayward drumsticks! The e904 features gold XLR pins. Sonically, you'll find the that e904 will yield and extra 3 to 6 dB more gain before feedback, compared to the e604, and the e904 tends to have more attack and snap than the e604.Features:
- Full, impressive, lively sound for drums and percussion- Very fast attack
- Compact body ideal for mounting on toms and snare drum
- Excellent sound profiling, adapts to all percussive styles
- Robust reinforced metal casing
